Family Therapy
Family therapy is designed to improve the structure of the family by addressing specific issues and/or conflict that may be threatening the relationships and overall condition of the family. The focus of therapy is to improve communication and understanding in order to identify and repair the problems of one or more individuals as well as make better the overall family unit. Family therapy helps to identify the source(s) of the problem and find viable solutions through working together to bring about change and resolution.
In working with families, I use Family Systems Theory to inform my practice and operate from a systems theoretical framework. I use this conceptualization to help identify internal dynamics that promote behavioral problems and concerns for the family.
